Via Francigena Entry Point, winter opening hours

The winter opening hours have been established at the “Via Francigena Entry Point” of Lucca.

The museum complex in Via Bacchettoni 8 opening hours are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00-14: 00; Tuesday and Thursday 10:00-16: 00; Saturday and Sunday 10:00-17: 00. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing.

Along the beautifully preserved 16th-century walls of Lucca, near Porta Elisa (east entrance of the city centre) the brand new “Via Francigena ENTRY POINT” complex has been divided into recently restored buildings and spaces that offer a series of cultural and tourist services to the city, Tuscany and traditional slow tourism.

The Museum at the Casa del Boia offers a virtual experience: “Francigena Emotion. Journey, Faith, Beauty” in a new multimedia tour. Visitors may have guided tours, visit bookshop, make reservations and request tourist information. Educational workshops have also been planned for schools. The Pilgrim Passport can be purchased at the Museum, where they may also be stamped.

Hospitality at Casermetta’ is the adjoining service centre of Casermetta San Salvatore. A multifunctional space equipped with cafeteria, refreshment point and information point available to citizens of Lucca, pilgrims and travellers of the Via Francigena. For both Italian and foreign tourists to rest, relax, refresh themselves and taste typical local products in a unique environment for all seasons, thanks to the outdoor and indoor areas.
