The Swiss stretch of Via Francigena is certainly one of the most fascinating of the cultural route of the Council of Europe. It is also recommended by the prestigious British newspaper “The Guardian”!
In the online version of the newspaper from 31 October 2019 “The Guardian” published an article “Top 10 best pilgrim routes in Europe: readers’ travel tips” . The Via Francigena in Switzerland is included in this prestigious list alongside with the Via Podiensis in France and the Saint Olav’s Ways in Norway.
Reader Greta Cooper talks about her excursion, defined as “heavenly” from Lausanne to Vevey, which curiously began after meeting Spanish monks on the lakeshore. This stage takes pilgrims to the shores of Lake Geneva and vineyards terraces of “Lavaux”, UNESCO World Heritage region recognized for its production of quality wines.
A great tip for travelling along the Swiss section of the Via Francigena!
