The Apulia Region (Regione Pugli) is finalizing the installation of official signposting along the Via Francigena route. The work, part of a broader enhancement project funded by CIPE Fund sheet no. 33, includes the installation of bidirectional signs, trail markers, welcome signs, informational panels about cultural attractions, and COR-TEN steel installations. These elements will make the route more accessible and user-friendly for pilgrims.
Final checks are currently underway to ensure the correct placement of the signposting, with completion of the work expected in April. This intervention marks a crucial step toward improving the visibility and safety of the route, enhancing the travel experience of those walking through Apulia region along the ancient path.
The Via Francigena is an asset of extraordinary importance for Apulia — not only for its historical and spiritual value but also for the contribution it makes to sustainable tourism and the promotion of local areas. Passing through villages, rural landscapes, and art cities, the path allows travelers to rediscover traditions, flavors, and unique scenery, encouraging slow and mindful tourism. The Region’s commitment to signposting is therefore a tangible sign of its dedication to this extraordinary route of pilgrimage and discovery.
