The Caetani Castle is the best known and most prominent monument in the Lepini mountains and dominates the town and the entire Pontine plain below with its bulk. The castle’s origins probably date back to the baronial Annibaldi family, who in the mid-13th century were given the towns of Sermoneta, Bassiano and San Donato by the Holy See.
