The history of the Ruspoli palace begins between the 9th and 10th centuries AD, when a tower, later called the Saracen tower, was built in today’s Piazza Umberto I, around which the original core of the medieval castle developed around the 12th century, probably belonging to the Counts of Tuscolo.
