The Sanctuary Madonna della Bozzola was erected in 1465, following the apparition of the Madonna to a mute little girl who, having been caught in a thunderstorm while she was taking her animals out to pasture, had taken shelter under a shrine with an effigy of the Virgin. At that moment, Our Lady appeared to her, healed her and asked her to erect a shrine in her name to protect the area. Back in the village, the little girl told the story, arousing astonishment among those present, who granted the request and began the construction of the Sanctuary.
The Bozzola complex is the result of interventions over the centuries: in the 16th century the first church was erected, in the 17th century the bell tower, while it was only in the 19th century that the building took on its current form. Finally, in 1905, engineer Cesare Nava designed the façade as we still see it today, to which terracotta statues by Provini of Milan and Repellini of Cremona were added.
