After a short stretch of SS 63 we follow the SP 57 with a long, unexpected ascent. Right after Ponzanello we continue on the SP19 until the nice village of Sarzana.
The second part of the path is flat, and the major attraction is the archeological area of Luni, ancient Roman harbor where the french pilgrims used to take a boat to Santiago.
The availability of water is decent, resting points in Sarzana, Caniparola.
N.B.: the rise to Ponzanello is quite demanding, we recommend those not that trained to sweep the first part of the leg, until Sarzana, by train.
