The European Association of the Via Francigena ways (EAVF) presents the 2020-2022 Strategic Plan, developed together with the Executive Board, members and the staff of the Association.
Aimed at defining and improving principal activities along the route and the quality of the work, the Strategic Plan profoundly analysed association’s mission, objectives, critical issues, untapped potential and additional factors.
The result of this analyses was the identification of seven macro strategies and respective operational actions.
“The Strategic Plan is designed for the next three years and represents a result and consequent restitution of an intense participation and shared reflection regarding the future and sustainable development of the Via Francigena and the EAVF,” said the EAVF President Massimo Tedeschi.
The work strategy 2020 – 2022 outlines projects to be enhanced during next three years, which will transform critical points into development opportunities.
An essential novelty will be introduced in the EAVF work – a use of indicators, which will be applied to all actions under development. The obtained data will be synthesized and organised into a database, which will function as a useful tool to optimize all future activities.
The Strategic Plan constitutes a point of reference and gives directions to the association that experiences a phase of growth: from opening towards the south and the Council of Europe’s certification extension of the Via Francigena in the South, the UNESCO World Heritage candidacy, internationalization of the route, involvement of private partners to increased animation along the path and involvement of local communities.
The Plan in its current version will remain a working document during next three years, as the EAVF intends to update it and implement according to the activities’ development, in order to make it an open and adaptable tool to the context that night occur.
The Association believes that drafting of a document of this magnitude was a necessary action, demonstrating its responsibility and commitment to ever growing number of members.
