The 2nd edition of “Mònde – Festa del Cinema sui Cammini“, the Festival created and organised by MAD – Memorie Audiovisive della Daunia, was presented at the 76th Venice Film Festival.
On Sunday 1st September, at Hotel Excelsior at the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo, “Mònde” was the protagonist of the productions supported by Apulia Film Commission and the region of Puglia, along with “Social Film Fund Con il Sud” and the projects “Ciak” and “Circe“.
“A festival like “Mònde”, in addition to enhancing features linked to the cinematographic narrative of the territory, also adds to the regeneration of the landscape in an immaterial way, a subject of absolute topicality that also includes social innovation. It is also a festival capable of creating a cultural regional strategy“, explained the Regional Councillor for Tourism and Cultural Industry, Loredana Capone, during the meeting which was also attended by the president of the Apulia Film Commission Foundation, Simonetta Dellomonaco, the general director of Apulia Film Commission, Antonio Parente, and the director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the region of Puglia, Aldo Patruno.
Simonetta Dellomonaco underlined the importance of the strategic aspect of Puglia’s projects, she affirmed “that landscape regeneration is a cultural theme. “Mònde”, as well as enhancing the intangible and therefore cultural aspects, also influences the narration of the landscape that constitutes its perception“.
““Mònde” is a film festival linked to cultural routes. Paths and cultural routes make up a fundamental strategy of the policies of the region of Puglia. On 18th October, in fact, the European Assembly of the Vie Francigene will be held in Bari, which will lead to recognition for the Southern Francigena as a cultural route of the Council of Europe. And Luciano Toriello, artistic director of “Mònde”, is responsible for the synthesis of all this“, said Aldo Patruno.
Representing the Lido “Mònde – Festa del Cammini”, artistic director Luciano Toriello, stated: “Being present at the Venice Film Festival is an important opportunity to present our idea of festivals to the press and public. In a territory worthy of attention – such as Gargano – the strength and originality of “Mònde” resides in combining cinema with an idea of sustainable and seasonally adjusted tourism and we are working hard to make ours a winning and exportable model“.
The 2nd edition of “Mònde” – whose name refers to the name of the town of Monte Sant’Angelo, but at the same time also refers to the “world“, a higher and universal dimension – will be held from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th October 2019 in the unique and evocative setting of the historic Rione Junno of Monte Sant’Angelo and in Gargano National Park.
“Mònde” is a film festival dedicated to the theme of travel, in all its nuances and meanings, but also includes excursions and walks; “Gargano DOC – School of documentary on the Paths and Cultural Routes“; workshops; meetings with authors; exhibitions; concerts and moments of convivial sharing.
On the days of the festival, Monte Sant’Angelo will become a destination and starting point for every pilgrimage and journey, a place of exchanges, encounters and open comparison between art and culture.
In addition to “Mònde”, MAD – Memorie Audiovisive by Daunia presented the new documentary directed by Luciano Toriello, “La luce dentro“; winner of the “Social Film Fund – Con il Sud” competition by Apulia Film Commission and Foundation WITH THE SOUTH. A call for the first edition, created with the aim of giving life to a “story in images” of the South through the social phenomena that characterise it, promoting a meeting between cinematographic companies and Third Sector and Southern Voluntary organisations.
The call to participate in the 2nd edition of “Mònde” is open until 7th September, all the info on http://www.mondefest.it/iscrizioni-2019/.
