After the meetings at Fucecchio, Pontremoli and Siena, “La nostra Francigena. Territori protagonisti del tempo delle scelte” (Our Francigena) will also take place in Lucca, in the Ducal Palace.
The initiative planned for Friday 19th January is part of a series of meetings promoted by the region of Tuscany with the aim of sharing qualifying points and strategic choices for the definition of a homogenous touristic product of the Via Francigena. Lucca, based on the convention signed by 39 municipalities in Florence the 26th June 2017 expressing interest in the first homogenous touristic product for the “Tuscan Via Francigena”, together with Fucecchio for the central South, Pontremoli for the North and Siena for the South, is the leading municipality of the central North; also a part of the central North are the municipalities of Seravezza, Pietrasanta, Camaiore, Massarosa, Capannori, Porcari, Montecarlo, Altopascio and Ponte Buggianese.
The first “Our Francigena” seminar will begin at 9:00 and end at 11:00 and includes three monothematic tables, the first dedicated to hospitality and aimed for hostel managers, touristic businesses, ‘poor’ and ecclesiastical hospitality, municipalities in the aforementioned group, and pro-loco; the second table is dedicated to the cultural routes, those invited to participate include technical offices of municipalities and provinces, voluntary organisations and other operators that handle maintenance and viability of routes. The third table focuses on the aggregation, associated touristic territorial businesses, religious associations which operate along the Via Francigena.
The results of the work done at the three tables will be illustrated at 11:00 in the plenary session of the meeting (in the sala Tobino of the Ducal Palace) from Stefano Romagnoli – director of the legislative tourism, commerce and tourist route service of Regione Toscana. Those present at the plenary meeting will receive the greetings of the mayor of Lucca, Alessandro Tambellini, while the conclusions of the morning meeting will be entrusted to the regional councillor representative of the Via Francigena, Francesco Guazzetti.
