From 22nd to 24th March the European Association of Via Francigena Ways (EAVF) participated in the 13th edition of “Salon du Randonneur“, a meeting dedicated to hikers in France in Lyon.
Over time, excursion and walks have become primary practical activities for French people on holiday. The Salon was thus an important window to raise awareness of the Via Francigena, cultural route of the Council of Europe which crosses France for over 800km.
To represent the EAVF was vice-president Martine Gautheron, municipal councillor of Champlitte (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté), EAVF operative headquarters in France.
“EAVF participation was important as it presented the Via Francigena – highlighted Gautheron – the visitors showed interest and enthusiasm for hiking and the unknown Francigena. Some people had completed the Italian part and intended to continue towards the south, while others were interested in travelling the French route.“
In 2019, the EAVF launched a new promotional campaign which predicts participation in important fairs of the sector, such as “Fa’ la Cosa Giusta” in Milan (8th-10th March), the Salon du Randonneur in Lyon (22nd-24th March) and the walkers Forum in Paris (5th-7th April).
“Collaboration with the regions of Galizia and Santiago de Compostela – highlights the EAVF – The main aim is to make people aware of the Via Francigena on an international level for those who want to experience an authentic hiking experience“.
