The agreements between the European Association of Via Francigena ways (EAVF) and Trenitalia have been renewed till 2021, while Trenord confirmed the partnership with the Association throughout the year of 2020.
Therefore, a possibility of discounted travel by train for all walkers and cyclists along the Via Francigena upon presentation of an official EAVF credentials extends from Valle d’Aosta to Rome along the Italian stretch.
In addition to 10% discount on regional routes, supplementary concessions have been agreed for Francigena pilgrims, representing a significant step for promotion of sustainable use of territories.
More than 200 railway stations are located along the Via Francigena itinerary. The goal is therefore to support mobility along the Sigeric’s route sensitive to the environmental impact.
The renewal of the collaboration with railways represents a strong confirmation to pursue promotion of sustainable tourism along the territories of the Via Francigena.
