The Via Francigena European Association and the Association Civita promote the second edition of the European Festival “Via Francigena Collective Project” which will run from June 1 to September 30, 2012 and represents a further step forward in enhancing the Cultural Itinerary of the Way Francigena.
This year’s edition is dedicated to the theme of welcoming places, with the aim of promoting awareness of new areas of hospitality for pilgrims, the care of the architecture, villages and landscapes crossed, the realities of integrated reception, interreligious and intercultural dialogue, social cohesion between generations and between rural and urban areas.
The Festival, will affect the entire path Sigerico, from Canterbury – which will host the closing event in late September – as far as Rome, the so-called “Francigena Way South”, from Rome to Jerusalem and, from this year, also Vie Romee, with the support of ‘”Ente Cassa di Risparmio of Firenze” through the project on these historical routes of pilgrimage to Rome too. In addition, the initiative also involving France, England and Switzerland.
The scheduled events, all for free and with nature, spirituality, local identity, culture, food and wine, are of different types.
The strength of the review is to be able to offer resonance and visibility to the many proposals and initiatives organized by local authorities, putting them “common factor” and ensuring a coordinated communication in respect of the characteristics of each territory.
