On 2 – 3 December the European Association of the Via Francigena ways EAVF participated in the digital workshop “Voices of Culture” – the EU structured dialogue on culture.
The event provided space for a discussion on the contribution of the cultural sector to the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This 15-year global framework is centred on an ambitious set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 169 targets and over 230 indicators. The SDGs address all UN Member States and the European Union. They address governments, civil society and the private sector. And they include culture.
The brainstorming session allowed 47 representatives from leading cultural NGOs, associations and representatives of the civil society to brainstorm on the connections between culture and SDGs. Elena Dubinina, the international relations advisor, represented the EAVF alongside with the Europa Nostra, British Council, Culture Action Europe and many others.
The results of this fruitful discussion will be included in the report which will be submitted to the European Commission and the EU member states during the Dialogue meeting on 11 February 2021.
